Alldales' Drives Receive Energy 'Seal of Approval'

HVAC specialists Alldales Drive Systems 'G' Series inverter drives have become the latest in the company's portfolio of drive products to make the Energy Technology List, having been certified as meeting the energy saving criteria required to qualify for incentives under the Government's Energy Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme.

Introduced in 2001 to incentivise companies to invest in low carbon technologies, the ECA scheme allows purchase costs for approved products to be written off in the year of purchase against taxable profit. Variable speed technology is one of a number of eligible technologies aimed at reducing energy consumption in commercial buildings, which are among the biggest fossil fuel users in the UK with HVAC systems and associated plant accounting for the lion's share of energy consumed. By adjusting motor speeds to match output requirements, inverter drives can deliver savings of better than 40% compared to more traditional methods of air and fluid flow regulation e.g. damper and valve controls, operating at standard flow rates.

The comprehensive 'G' series from Alldales is based on proven technology developed initially by leading drive manufacturers Danfoss. Designed to be easy to commission and use, the existing specifications have been further enhanced by Alldales for HVAC-specific use, to include closer integration with building automation systems and a unique 'fire mode', which allows drives to run to extinction to ensure vital building escape routes remain smoke-free in an emergency.
