Alldales Inverter Drives Chosen For New City Centre Development

Energy-saving inverter drives from Alldales Drive Systems, leading independent HVAC drive specialists, will provide added comfort for tenants of offices in a new complex that forms part of the regeneration development at Cardinal Place.

An innovative scheme adjacent to London's Victoria Station, the development will provide approximately half a million square feet of state of the art office space in two landmark buildings and a further 80,000 square feet of shops, restaurants and bars on the site of the former Stag Place. Centred around a new all-weather public space, the mixed-use redevelopment is expected to bring an added vibrancy to the area, opening it up for pedestrian access.

Alldales have been commissioned to fit some 200 inverter drives, which are to be linked with the Satchwell Building Management Systems to regulate fans and pumps throughout the twin-building complex, providing precise climate control to match daily usage profiles. By adjusting fan speeds on instruction from the Building Management Systems, the inverter drives are able to deliver significant energy savings in off-peak periods whilst offering greater flexibility in environmental control to suit localised occupancy requirements.

Fitted as part of an integrated solution and compatible with all leading building systems, Alldales' new generation inverter drives also provide comprehensive feedback on interrogation to the central Building Management System, flagging up local incidents such as blocked filters or belt slippage and enabling them to be quickly resolved.

Alldales drives now incorporate as standard a new 'fire mode', unique to Alldales. Offering an alternative to hard wired starters, the new mode allows normal drive programme settings in designated escape stairwells to be overridden in an emergency, effectively running the fans at full speed 'to destruction'. This ensures positive pressure levels are maintained, preventing smoke ingress should a fire occur.
